On a warm August evening in the summer of 2019, a series of seemingly small choices brought us together in a way that can only be described as serendipity. Louis, fresh off work, decided to head out for a few drinks with his mates. Meanwhile, Christine was out for dinner with her sister Lauren, who was set to leave the city the next day to return to California after a summer internship. Though Christine had planned to head home early, Lauren convinced her to join for "just one more drink" as a farewell gesture.

The destination was Highlands, a cozy, candlelit Scottish whisky bar tucked away in the West Village of Manhattan. As fate would have it, Louis was headed there too. Our eyes met the moment he walked in, and in that instant, it was clear that there was a spark. After an hour of exchanging glances, we finally found ourselves side by side at the bar.
